Dear Carly,

As a voting member of the Academy, I don't know if there are rules preventing you from commenting on the upcoming Oscars, but I thought I'd give it a try.

Who would you like to see win for Best Picture, Actor and Actress this year? And is it fun or a huge responsibility to have to view all of the films nominated?

PS - Watching you win an Oscar for Let The River Run was the best time I've ever had watching the Academy Awards! You deserved it and it was so thrilling to see you there to accept it!

This is out of class, and I won't say that that's my official vote, but the two top movies for me this year were "Crash" and "Breakfast in Pluto". Actor obviously (I say) Phillip Seymore Hoffman.

Yes, it was a wonder to win the Academy Award. It simply didn't happen did it? That's what I keep thinking. It actually added to my glamour but not the jobs that came in after it.
