Tour

Hi Carly,

I saw you recently on Good Morning America. You are so amazing! I can't wait to get the new CD. However, I have to ask...when (and PLEASE) are you going back on tour??? I saw you about 10 years ago at the Garden State Arts center in New Jersey and you were just AMAZING!!!!

Please don't keep yourself from your fans and get back on stage. I know you have delt with stage fright...but there is nothing to fear...your fans LOVE you!! Bill DiModugno - Ridgewood, NJ

Nice to hear from you. I wish a dream band (that was affordable) that would just materialize every time I wanted to go out and play a concert. Then: wish number two: I wish I would remember all the words and chords myself. Then: wish number three: I wish I had a stand in, to be there for me some of the times, like back stage at all the meet'n'greets that you have to do for local radio. Not that I don't like them, it's just that it gets tiring when you have to do a show and still try to keep your 'smile muscles' in tact for all the after show details.

I could go on and on. I don't discount that I will do more concerts. Just not a 'tour'. That's an overwhelming thought to me. Love, Carly - 5/31/04

It's Hard To Be Tender

Hi Carly,

I have an interesting question for you. I am always surprised that the song "It`s hard to be tender" is never included in one of your compilations. Did you know that this song was a HUGE success in for example The Netherlands? Is this a question of copyright?? ( doesn`t go for "The Spy Who Loved Me" apparently). Or don`t you like the song or regret that you recorded it?? If so , I do not agree, it`s a delightful song!!

Thank you for so many years of great music and very best regards, Roger - The Netherlands

I had no idea it was a huge song in the Netherlands. I wonder who keeps track of this sort of thing in my life? When I mention the name of that song to the dear hearted people who represent me, they have no idea what I'm talking about, nor do I think there's even a paper trail. Seems so odd.

No, I do like the song. It's not that at all. Best and love, Carly

(Note: Carly's website receives numerous emails requesting information about how to obtain this song. You can listen to it, in it's entirety, by clicking on the Music / Soundtracks section of carlysimon.com. Scroll down to find information on the mini-series "Sins". Other than that, seekers of this song might find used copies of the CD single for sale at popular online auction websites).

Retirement?

Hi Carly,

SAY IT ISN'T SO...
Recently on the Conan O'Brien Show you casually dropped a bomb on me by uttering the word "retirement". Then, while I was picking myself up off the floor and before you could fully explain yourself, the show ended.

Does that mean you will not be recording any new albums? Am I doomed to a world without new Carly music? Please (gently) explain. Thanks for all the wonderful songs, Ken Gear - Piscataway NJ

I mean RETIRE into music. In other words, the music BUSINESS is not a good place to be now. I want to still MAKE music with some exciting new and old people and be passionate about it and put it out privately, which of course would include anyone who wanted to have it! Love, Carly - 5/18/04

My Romance Duet with Ben

Hi Carly,

I'll make it sweet and simple because I'm guessing this is one of a hundred emails you receive daily. The duet of "My Romance" between you and Ben... Has it ever been officially released? I'm to be wed in 3 months and my fiance loves the song and we'd like it to be our first dance. Pls help if possible! Thx! (The duet version also allows us to sing it to each other!) Dan Weis - St. Louis, Mo

My voice was added onto by Ben's for the Ralph Lauren 'Romance' commercial. Then my voice was eliminated and Ben carries on alone into the future. I don't know what the status is of our duet. It was pretty fun at the time.

I love singing with Ben and Sal. Family members tend to have the same inflections and phrazing. Ben and I seem to have similar overtones and harmonics in our voices and blend almost as one voice. Love, Carly - 5/8/04
