Birthday wishes and plans

Dear Carly,

First, and most importantly, and yes, I know it's a few days early, but I'd like to be one of the first to wish you the HAPPIEST of Birthdays!

Listening to you while enjoying my morning coffee, watching the waves roll onto a very foggy shore this very early morning in Ocean City, your song "Happy Birthday" came on, and reminded me that YOUR birthday was indeed just a few days away!

Do you have a traditional way you celebrate each year, or is every birthday some sort of new surprise, or do you just look forward to a "Quiet Evening"? What will THIS year be like? Whatever your plans, my sincerest wishes for the most wonderful birthday of all, and for the best year ever to come!

On my birthday, I will be entirely alone. Not to be too Deitrich about it all, but I really am kind of in a crab mode. The beach is the best meditation as my friend Jimmy Webb just reminded me (he actually quoted Melville on this) of recently.

Maybe on a sailboat. But one I will sail solo.

Sopranos Ending

Hey,

I remember not long ago you said "The Sopranos" was your favorite show. Were you satisfied with the ending? Do you think Tony got whacked in the final scene, or that nothing happened, or something else entirely?

And how come they didn't use "Anticipation" instead of Journey for that final scene? Or "Loving You's The Right Thing to Do," for conflicted Carmela, or "Cross the River," for screwed-up bourgeois A.J.? The possibilities are endless.

Dear Bryan,

I think everyone in the family got whacked except Meadow. The bad parking saved her. The guys who went into the bathroom were just too suspect and the camera played with them. Of course there are meant to be many opinions.

I don't know why they didn't use Anticipation. Go figure!!!
