Dress Designer
Dear Carly: The satin gown you are wearing on your new Cd, "Moonlight Serenade", is fabulous. Can you share who is the designer of such a gorgeous dress? Thank you! Beverley Shankland - Cottage Grove/Minnesota
Dear Beverly,
It's made by a girl (woman) in Newburyport, Mass. I bought it a few years back. It wasn't designed specifically for me. She's very talented. Her name is Jaqueline Bennett.
It's not the same dress as I wore in the video, in case you were interested, but if you are not interested, that's o.k. too. They both have a nice kind of satiny look, don't they? Love, Carly - 8/25/05
Patsy Cline
Carly, I know most of the questions you answer usually have more to do with your career - but here I go. Recently there have been great strides made in an attempt to preserve the memory of music legend Patsy Cline. It has been 50 years since she made her first recordings and 42 years since her death. After all this time they are just now establishing a museum in her memory. What is your opinion on the importance of Patsy Cline not only in music history but as a female in a male-dominated world, and how has she influenced or affected your career? Your time is greatly appreciated and you are a true legend! Musically Yours, Todd Kerley - Missouri
Dear Todd,
This requires more than a simple answer. I have to look at her life more closely. I certainly know some of her music, but I actually fault myself for not knowing that much about her life. I hope I am not disappointing you.
Undoubtedly, she was a trail blazer and in that respect, all women who are singular in a man's field have a special power.

Martini Preferences
Dear Carly,
I absolutely love "Moonlight Serenade". Your vocals are exquisite and it is the most romantic collection I've ever heard. The arrangements are the perfect compliment to your superb vocal interpretation. I also love the bonus CD with the "making of the project". Thank you for letting us peek into the process of your work. Few artists give their fans such access and it is greatly appreciated. One quick question, I saw you drinking the martini in the video, are you a gin or vodka martini drinker? Do you like it straight up? Olive or onion?.... and do you like it dirty? (a bit of olive juice added). Thanks Carly! Chris Barker - Dallas, TX
Dear Chris,
I am absolutely a kindergartner when it comes to martinis. I like them with mostly kiwi juice and very little vodka, and NO salt or anything 'dirty'. I do not belong in a league with you and feel as if the only way to really answer your letter is to go downstairs and make myself a really strong, dirty one, with lime juice on the side, and have a nice long nap!
Love, Carly - 8/12/05
