Floundering
Hey Carly, Thanks for great music over the years. One of the many stand out tracks is the reggae influenced "Floundering". Please share any memories of that song. Thanks! Bill - Maryland
Dear Bill, I know I was reading one psychology and new age book after another. I was practicing EST, and Buddhism and I was spiritually running around the pool. I was also very amused about it. Rather, laughing at myself. I recall laughing during the recording and especially during the background parts, trying to be lofty and all and just cracking up along with Ricky (drums) who was making faces at me.

Frank & Carly
Carly: I have no question; this is a sincere comment. I am 74 years old; I'm married to a girl I met when I was in the 8th Grade, and she was in the 7th. I am NOT an Internet weirdo; so, please, take what I am about to say as deeply-felt. I've been a Frank Sinatra fan, since the early 1940's; I was born, and raised, some 20 blocks from where Francis grew up. I still have, in mint condition, his first-ever album, "The Voice." My respect for his talent borders on idolatry. Always, I have said that, the one great thing that set Francis above all other vocalists was his way with lyrics: they weren't just written words, coming from him; they always were personal emotions and feelings. There never has been, or will be, anyone like him, in that respect--or, at least, that's what I thought, until I discovered you. When I first heard his "Duets" CD, I found myself listening, time-and-time again, to YOUR duet with Francis; clearly, it was the best track, by far. I went out and bought your "My Romance" CD. I've probably listened to it, more than 100 times, since then. Every morning, I go into my home office, and put it on; I made myself an audiocassette from the CD, and play it in the car, always. And, it's been a revelation for me. YOU stand on an equal plateau with Francis, when it comes to having a way with lyrics; when you sing lyrics, they are your own words, coming straight from your heart and soul. You are the only talent I've ever even come close to appreciating at that level, next to Francis. I don't just listen to your vocals; I become lost in them. I mean that, from the depth of my being. Again, please take this as it is meant: a sincere statement of appreciation, from a dedicated respecter of your amazing talent--not a "fan letter" from some Internet psycho. You are an amazing talent. Marc Richards - Trophy Club, Texas
That's the very most unbelievably sweet and generous compliment I could ever have gotten. It's certainly true that I was more influenced by his phrasing than anyone's. That album: "The Voice" was my subliminal learning album. His version of "Try a little Tenderness" in that almost baby voice!!!!!! Thank you so much. Love, Carly - 11/6/04
