Nightowl
My mum introduced me to your music when I was quite little. I am now 31 and must say that Hotcakes and No Secrets are still two of my all time favourite albums.
So many great songs, that have soothed me in many ways over the years. But are you a nightowl? I always wondered! Nicky Badior - NSW Australia
Nicky, my dear. I am no longer a nightowl. In the days when I was recording in England I was. We stayed up with a little help from our friends, recording and making havoc until the wee small.
Now, I like to read in bed until I fall asleep. Around midnight. I also sometimes stay in my little bedroom studio until the wee hours of the morning, especially recording "Piglet" which I lost all my inhabitions over and therefore the second hand of the clock. I guess it all varies. But no, I'm not a party-er. Love, Carly - 12/15/03
Favorite Music (currently)
First I would like to tell you how much I enjoy the Ask Carly part of this website, I seem to check it out constantly to see if there is any new insight to you and your world. Second, your music seems to always be in my CD player and the longing or anticipation for something new is always intense. I was wondering who is in yours? Who in the midst of today s' artists are your favorites? Love, Kelly Albers - Salt Lake City, UT
Dear Kelly,
I have to confess, sheepishly, that I listen mostly to Ben and Sally's music. That and John Forte's latest album "I John". If you are a frequent visitor to this website, you'll know that I have become an ardent activist trying to get the mandatory minimums re-vamped and the Rockefeller laws overthrown.
I listen to quite a bit of the Rap music that Ben leaves behind in the car. I listen to classical music (Beethoven sonatas, Liszt, Mahler symphonies), but usually I like to listen to Marvin Gaye and Smokey Robinson. How is that for diversity? There is a track that I'm positively addicted to from an old album called "World Party". Also, Robbie Robertson...so many things. I can't even begin to tell you. And I guess it's all new in the bigger picture. I mean it's new compared to like the year 1200. I do wish they'd get rid of those awful CD cases. I guess we all do, right? Love, Carly - 12/04/03
